The Faribault Woolen Mill

The Faribault Woolen Mill

This is US 🇺🇸 Manufacturing : Faribault Woolen Mill. Founded in 1865, on the banks of the Cannon River in Faribault, MN, the Faribault Woolen Mill is a living testament to American craftsmanship. Faribault wool is renowned for it's comfort and quality. Since the end of the Civil War, they’ve provided woolen blankets for pioneers heading west and comforted our troops through two world wars.

However, Faribault almost didn't survive the Recession of 2008. The mill went dark for 18 months and all their workers lost their jobs. Liquidators tagged the looms and equipment for shipment to Pakistan. Fortunately, cousins Paul and Chuck Mooty purchased the mill and the iconic brand in 2011. They invested millions in modernizing machinery and repairing the infrastructure of the plant. Since then, Faribault has staged a remarkable comeback and virtually all of the laid-off workers have been rehired along with 30 new positions that have been added in the past year. This is an amazing American-made comeback story and I hope to read about more of these in the future!

Faribault is not sold on Founder Goods- we're just big fans of USA made products!
